The Vagiwell® Dilators were developed for women who want to practice gently dilating the vagina themselves. The goal of the exercises is desensitization, where the vagina is to be slowly stretched so that sexual intercourse (again) and gynecological examinations can be performed painlessly.

There are various reasons why the vagina may be too tight:

• Dyspareunia of various causes

• Vaginismus (spasm of the vaginal muscles)

• in case of scarring after episiotomy or perineal tear

• after gynecological surgeries

• during and after radiation or chemotherapy

• after surgeries involving vaginal narrowing and scarring

• Skin diseases, e.g., lichen sclerosus

• Vaginoplasty/Neovagina

Dilation exercises with the Vagiwell® dilators are also useful when gynecological examinations or the insertion of a tampon are perceived as very painful.

Application

Starting with the smallest size, the dilation aid is inserted into the vagina and remains there for several minutes. If a size can be inserted without discomfort, the next size should be used immediately. The exercises should be performed in a relaxed sitting or lying position.

If not otherwise recommended by the doctor, the exercises should be repeated daily.
